I began my fine art education at Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine where students are taught contemporary concepts of art and design. I then transferred to Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Old Lyme, Connecticut where I majored in Life Sculpture. Lyme Academy is a traditional school of fine art and it is there that I took courses in figurative sculpture and bas-relief sculpture. Since completing my formal art education in 1998, I have created a body of work that includes in the round bronze figurative sculpture, bronze bas-relief and bronze sculpture based mainly on observation of the landscape and plants. In my work I attempt to combine traditional sculptural techniques with contemporary ideas of two and three dimensional design. I started doing pastel drawings in February of 2011. It had been a long dreary winter here in Michigan and I needed some color in my life. My pastel drawings are based on photographs I take here in Michigan and while traveling.
